House of Kata Koi Foods with natural additives are produced in small batches and that is why we can provide a fresh quality product. Freshness of food is important because all feeding values are optimal present and it’s all your Nishikigoi needs and deserves. For a maximum freshness our food is packed in a material which is specially made to keep out the detrimental effects of UV-light and moreover it is possible to re-close the package after usage to prolong freshness. All our products are provided with an expiry date to guarantee the quality of our product. Food which is beyond the expiry date, loses its vitamins and other important ingredients. We recommend to no longer use food that is beyond the expiry date and to throw it away, because your Nishikigoi can become ill when you do keep using it. House of Kata Koi Products guarantees a high quality product up to the expiry as long as the package is kept unopened or when you keep it in the correct circumstances.

Fish never die of starvation, but frequently of to much food

A well-known pronouncement where many had to realize the impact of it.
For an optimum increase and maintenance feed Nishikigoi only 1 to 3 percent, very young Nishikigoi 7 percent but for example the Jumbo Nishikigoi only a half percent of his bodyweight. In spite of using the rapidly digestible ideal small pellets, we advise you to feed the fish no more than they can eat within 5 minutes.  It’s  better to feed your fish a smaller proportion several times a day as to a large quantity of food at once. Do not forget that fish have no stomach and it’s not possible to digest a lot of food at once. Also keep in mind that the indigested food will pollute your pond. Succeeding this recommendation will give you a better water quality and therefore healthier Nishikigoi.

Vary your feeding ritual as much as possible. Each food type has beside the daily required ingredients an extra quality which will improve the living of your Nishikigoi.  Every food type has recommended appropriate advice for the period you can conduct it. Generally applies that you can conduct the whole year. In nature food also is available for fish during the year.

Research shows that feeding small pellets contribute a better digestion for both large and small fish. House of Kata uses ideal small pellets for their food. Beside the ideal small pellets this food has the unique quality to diminish excrements and by doing so, to decrease the burden of your filtration and of course healthier Nishikigoi. Moreover you can longer enjoy feeding and the time to inspect your fish. The pellets have a long floating capacity. As a result you simply can see how much food is eaten and by who. When a certain fish is not eating or not eating well this can indicate sickness. Because the fish must surface you can admire them well and check on sicknesses or wounds. Moreover you find no indigestible pellets or parts of it in their excrements where in large pellets frequently is the case.

The advantages of House of Kata: Pro-biotic, Increases resistance, Activates immune system, Highly digestible, Improves digestion, Encapsulates faeces, Less water polluting, Highly nutritious, Better growth, Improves skin quality, Improves colour development, Long floating capacity, Advantageous in use

Pro-biotic: Pro-biotics are living, microbiotic food ingredients that have a positive influence on the health of the Nishikigoi. Immunostimulants: The immune stimulants you find in our koi foods contribute to the improvement of the immune system of the Nishikigoi. Relatively harmless in the fight against infections Research shows that Beta-glucans are able to activate macrophages in a selective manner. This gives us, in the contrary to anti-biotics, a relatively cleanâ and harmless remedy against infections. When it comes to fish, B-glucans are the most effective in their bowels. Very convienent, since most pathogens enter the body from the bowels. Immediate effect in the bowels Besides Beta-glucans our foods also contain nucleotides (the building material of DNA, red.) that are known for their enforcing effect of the cells (enterocytes) of the inner surface of the bowel

Inside the bowel these enterocytes are the utmost important barrier against the outside world and the internal environment. Inherent to their function they are exposed to wear and tear and therefore a frequent splitting of the enterocytes is necessary. In order to do so, they have to produce large quantities of DNA. To do this, the enterocytes will use the nucleotides that are present in the food. Adding nucleotides to food therefore has a health improving effect. Most nutrients are complex products and consist of a mixture of different components. Macronutrients are a source of both energy and building material, necessary for growth and the maintaining of the Nishikigoi s body.

Macronutrients Most nutrients are complex products, they consist of a mixture of different components. Macronutrients are a source of energy and necessary for the growth and the maintaining of the Nishikigoi’s body. The macronutrients of fish food consist of protein, fats and carbon hydrates.  Protein of soy, corn and wheat. Whitefish meal and krill for balance and good taste. Fat: a combination of fish oil for the Omega 3 fatty acids and vegetable oils of soy and rapeseed.

Carbon hydrates: the farinas of wheat and corn are gelatinized by the extrusion process and are therefore extremely high digestible. The micronutrients are the nutrients the body only needs in small amounts, such as vitamins, minerals and trace elements. Also other matters without nutritious value (fibres, anti-oxydants etc..) are necessary to keep Nishikigoi in a healthy condition. The micro nutrients are necessary for the well-functioning of the body processes. To stay healthy the Nishikigoi needs all these different nutrients. Fish never die of starvation, but frequently of to much food

Protein: Protein are in fact amino acids. In total 20, but 13 of these amino acids are of vital importance. These amino acids provide growth, re-growth of damaged tissue and the production of roe and seed. A shortage of amino acids thus protein  disrupts the growth of Nishikigoi. If a shortage of protein last for a longer period of time it can cause the spinal core to grow out of shape.

Carbon hydrates: Carbon hydrates in the food are of essential importance for the fish’s energy, but Nishikigoi cannot convert carbon hydrates very easily. To many carbon hydrate can cause damage to the liver. A surplus can also create a huge storage of these substances (glygocene) that can cause cardiac arrest.

Fat: Fat are the basis for energy and provide as such the fatty acids: triglyceride and fosolipinol. These are the main components for the growth of cellular structure. Fat is less dangerous to fish as it is for humans and for our Nishikigoi they are, due to the low melting point, easy digestible. A disadvantage is that fats and fatty acids oxidize when exposed to oxygen. In this case they can be harmful for the health of your Nishikigoi. Therefore it is of importance not to purchase the food in too large quantities.

Vitamins: Are of great importance for the normal metabolism and growth of Nishikigoi, especially during the spawning period. Vitamins only have to be present in the food in small amounts but can most certainly not be lacking. There are two types of vitamins: the water dissolving type and the fat dissolving type. Vitamins of the last type are slowly taken in by the fish and stored in the body fat. A lack of vitamins will not occur easily. House of Kata Koi Foods contain all essential vitamins in the right amounts to keep your fish healthy throughout the year.

Vitamine A. Good growth and sight.

Vitamine B1. Enables the koi to get energy from carbon hydrates.

Vitamine B2. Vitamine B2 or Riboflavine is known as the ‘stress vitamine’. It helps your Nishikigoi to cope with transitional situations such as stress. Also for build up of muscles and mucous layer.

Vitamine B6. Vitamine B6 or Pyridoxine together with B11 and B12 helps the take in of iron by the body and it is involved in the forming of red blood cells. These three vitamins also provide a good functioning of the nervous system and are involved in the amino acid metabolism.

Vitamine B12. See vitamine B6. Vitamine B12 or Cobalamine together with B6 and B11 helps the take in of iron by the body and it is involved in the forming of red blood cells. A shortage of these vitamins can lead to anaemia. These three vitamins also provide a good functioning of the nervous system and are involved in the amino acid metabolism. Vitamine C. Vitamine C has a very wide function. Is well known for its positive influence on health. In 1928 the raw crystal form was isolated for the very first time. In 1937 Dr Albert Szent-Gyorgyi received the Nobel price for this achievement. The official name of vitamine C is acidum ascorbicum, which means anti scurvy. Builds skeletal structure and improves resistance of your Nishikigoi.

Skin improvement and wound healing We are also strongly convinced that combining these immune stimulants with vitamin C. Vitamine C functions as a fuel for the immune cells. Whereas Betaglucans stimulate the macrophages, vitamin C ensures a good condition.

Besides the immune system also condition and skin will improve. Wound healing will be strongly stimulated. Colors as well as patterns are genetically fixed. But in order to reach the maximum fixed pattern/color a fish should take in the proper pigments in the right amount. We use natural yellow and red pigments. Especially Astaxanthine ( a red and for fish very efficient pigment) is very well represented.

Vitamine D. Important for the growth of the skeleton.

Vitamine E. Is necessary for the forming of red blood cells and the buildup, recovery and maintaining of muscle- and other tissues.

Vitamine K. Aids the congelation of the blood after wounding.

Mineralen: Mineralen serve different purposes: Among others the building of the skeleton, the building of the nerves and the maintaining of a good metabolism. House of Kata sees to it that these minerals are added in the right proportion during the preparation process of the pellets. This is the Ash in the food.

Colour enhancers: To maintain the colours of the fish substances are admitted to the preparation process that ensure this maintenance. An important added component is Carotene. Carotene fortifies the red pigment cells of your Nishikigoi. Another added component is Spirulina. This is also added to invigorate the red pigment parts without influencing the white parts. And last but not least: Red paprika, which contains more than twice the amount of vitamine C and more than three times the amount of vitamine A as green paprika.

Zeolite Zeolite is originally a mineral rock with a very high absorbent ability. It can bind Ammonium. It purifies the water due to the absorption of chemical substances. Due to this effect, your water and filtration will pollute less and offer your fish a better environment.

Propolis Propolis is considered as a natural anti biotic. It is anti-virus, anti-fungus, it’s a natural aspiring, it stimulates the thymus gland by which the immunity and resistance against infections is raised. It suppresses the forming of prostaglandin: that plays part in pain, inflammation and heart- and vessel diseases. Contains bioflavonoids: increases the effect of vitamin C, that protects against infections, helps to reduce the springing of small blood vessels and widens the blood vessels, thus improving the circulation. Propolis has a positive influence on the resistance of koi in general and in particular on the liver, the immunity system, the self-cleansing ability of the body, preventing and curing of dropsy and fin rot, the development of the skeletal structure and the skin quality. Propolis is also available as ointment or tincture. Excellent source of histamine: causes blood vessels to widen, and contraction weak muscles. It is released in large amount after skin damaging, excellent source of serotonin, it is thought to play a part in inflammations just like histamine and it also functions as a neurotransmitter: Important for the sleeping process. The Propolis of House of Kata is guaranteed to be free of waxes. And therefore safe to use for your Nishikigoi without the gills sticking together.

Garlic The ancient Chinese, Greek and Romans already used garlic against all sorts of diseases such as infections, wounds and ulcers. Garlic is a rich source of vitamin A, B1, B3 an C. Adding Garlic to the food cleanses the intestines As an advantage your Nishikigoi will show increased vitality, have better resistance and better digestion.

Montmorillonite clay. Calcium montmorillonite clay is also called a eatable clay. It is also known as a living clay because it mainly consist of minerals the increase the production of enzymes in all living organism. Research by respectable scientists from well-known universities show the positive effect on cattle. The US department of Fish and Wildlife did research the application on trout and these results are also positive.

Phosphor. Should always be present in Koi food. A lack of Phosphor can cause the spinal core to grow out of shape.

Choline. Is essential for the digestion of fat.
